Mayor Golan of Tel Mond, Israel accepting a gift from Sarasota

Mayor Golan of Tel Mond, Israel accepting a gift from Sarasota Sister Cities.

The gift was provided by Tube Dude, the company that makes metal stick figures with a smiley face. They are manufactured from marine grade aluminum and painted in bright colors. They are located on St. Armand's Circle.

These figures first appeared holding mailboxes at Sarasota residences and soon spread.  Now they appear throughout Sarasota’s business district advertising everything from beauty shops to real estate offices.  They are a great treat of the tourists.

Scott Gerber the creator of these wonderful figures, donated a bright yellow smiley face to Sister Cities to present to the Mayor, of Tel Mond, Israel our sister on our recent visit.
Thank you Scott.

Feature Your City Flag!
In a salute to our heritage as the oldest and largest national movement of Citizen Diplomats in the world, Sister Cities International and this year's Annual Conference (see details above) planners are reintroducing the Parade of Flags and combining it with the City of San Jose Sister Cities Flag Raising Tradition as part of the 2014 Annual Conference and Youth Leadership Summit Opening Ceremony. But with a minor twist!

The Parade of Flags will be a parade of city/county/region flags to honor who we are as member communities in this national movement. In this regard, each member city and state or organization is requested to provide a flag for this ceremony. It is envisioned that this one time member gift to Sister Cities International will be retained for use at succeeding Annual Conference Opening Ceremonies.

For more information on how you can participate, please visit :www.sister-cities.org/2014FlagParade.
