Many thanks to Pauline Mitchel n friend Nance, plus Tampa Chinese School n Clearwater Dance Troop, SACS will be offering 4 major entertainments for Pentathlon on May 7th and May 8th. We shall have plural Chinese Lions dancing on Saturday May 7th, from noon to 12:30 and again from 3:30 to 4 pm.

May 5th 5:30 pm Opening Ceremony at Ringling Museum Courtyard: All of us plus friends are invited to the official opening ceremony. VIPs will be President of The International Olympic Committee Mr. Thomas Bach n Olympic Secretary-General Thani al-Kuwari from Qatar, a future host for summer Olympic game.

For Closing Ceremony on May 8th at 4:30 pm, we will offer Scottish windpipe, followed by an international dance with multi nation costumes. We also will be providing a Jazz Band to play on Sunday from noon to 4 pm.

SCAS and GCAA are both invited to be partners of Benderson Park. We are submitting our logos for printing of the brochures.

Volunteer positions will be available online for registration very soon. All volunteers will be given a T shirt, free lunches and free ice cold beverages. Volunteers will have the most rewarding experience in mingling with our favorite Olympian athletes. We will have our own tent to do our Sister Cities promotions.

We have many more hundreds of tickets to give out. I shall bring a large stack to the CD meeting.

All tickets are FREE for the three days.

We look forward to your participation. This event will be the last Pentathlon that will take place in Sarasota. It is a very rare and memorable World Class Sports Event in our own backyard.

Sarasota Sister Cities will have a table with our banner, placards and brochures tended by Anna Madaschi and Ray Young (5:30-6:30) and Pauline Mitchell & Marianna Marianna Janz-Wecke (6:30-7:30).  Other board members may attend if you wish.  

Marianna and I will be a brief presentation about SSCA at 7:10 pm.  Irene will have a separate table for the Benderson Pentathlon. They expect about 400 people, so should give us good exposure.

Irene Leung will host a separate table about the upcoming Pentathalon.

Finally, the dramatic effect of European & American contact & occupation on the population and culture of the Polynesians will be revealed.

The central Pacific Ocean was colonized by some of the greatest Navigators of all time, the Polynesians. The Polynesian triangle is defined by Hawaii, New Zealand & Easter Island, and includes Samoa, Tonga, Tahiti & the Marquesas.
