"Sarasota-Bradenton Selected To Host First World Rowing Championships in the United States in more than 30 years" 2017 World Rowing Champions Coming to Sarasota-Bradenton We are pleased to share that The International Federation of Rowing Associations (FISA) selected Nathan Benderson Park (NBP) in Sarasota County, Florida to host the 2017 World Rowing Championships. EVENTS Sep 28 National Public Lands Day at Oscar Scherer State Park When: September 28 2013 at 9am - 2pm Location: Oscar Scherer State Park Description:Oscar Scherer State Park and the Friends of Oscar Scherer State Park, Inc. are hosting a National Public Lands Day event on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 9:00am - 2:00pm. This free, fun, and family-friendly event will feature live music, tram tours, informational and craft booths, demonstrations, work service project opportunities for volunteers, and activities for kids. The Friends of Oscar Scherer State Park, Inc. will provide a free lunch for registered volunteers. Additionally, the park's normal entrance fee will be waived on this date in celebration of National Public Lands Day! Oct 9 RIAF Inspires, Opening Night Gala, Ringling International Arts Festival When: October 9 2013 at 5.30pm - 11pm Location: The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art Description: RIAF Inspires is the fundraising gala for the festival. It will begin with a reception prior to a performance by Spain's Rocío Molina, one of the most brilliant bailaoras of our time, and followed by a dinner in the galleries of The Ringling. The fifth annual Ringling International Arts Festival, Oct 9-12, launches the 2014 arts season on Florida's "Cultural Coast." The four-day festival showcases a variety of dance, music and theater presented in intimate performance venues at The Ringling. The festival is under the artistic direction of the Baryshnikov Arts Center.
