On behalf of Sister Cities Association of Sarasota, we just want to say “Thank You” to all of you who helped make the 2013 Florida Sister Cities State Convention uniquely successful and beneficial. We hope you enjoyed yourself in Sarasota and the amenities of the Helmsley Sandcastle on the beautiful white sand beaches of Lido Key.
We have a great venue this summer to continue the impetus generated in Sarasota by our sharing of knowledge and expanding our outreach. That venue is the upcoming Sister Cities International Convention in San Antonio, July 12-13.
Deadline for early bird discount registration is May 31st.

We thought the best part of the conference was getting to know each other and learn about programs we can share.
We look forward to seeing you in San Antonio.
Thanks again to those attending!
And finally, please, send conference photos for our compiling and sharing on the web for all to see and acquire for organizational or personal use. Please send your great photos by email, flash drive or disc to Gayle Maxey, Director of Events, Sister Cities Association of Sarasota. Gayle can be reached at 941-416-3565 or gmaxey632@gmail.com. Her snail mail address is 125 Inlets Blvd, Nokomis, FL 34275. Flash drives will be returned.

What made Sarasota so special was having Mary Kane, president and CEO of Sister Cities International with us for all three days of the conference. In addition, we had the benefits of having Launa Kowalski attending from Georgia to share with us her experiences as Chair of the Honorary Board of SCI and being the SCI State coordinator for Georgia. Our “new” Florida SCI state coordinator Pat Buchanan let us know that we now have an active champion to support us. Our event was the platform for a preview of the July 1 announcement about a partnership for obtaining economic health and travel insurance under the SCI umbrella. All this plus having our own Ron Gossett adding his knowledge as a member of the current SCI Board of Directors.
Many of you told us you especially enjoyed our Friday program highlighted by futurist David Houle and the Saturday morning roundtable discussions at the Sandcastle. For those who may want to obtain David’s new book “Entering the Shift Age” for themselves or as gift to others. Check out Amazon.com where his book is discounted to $16.98 for hard cover or $8.69 for the Kindle version. Click on:
